NPP Ensemble

The Non-Pro Player Committee provides Non-Pro/Comeback players with the opportunity to have visible support in the organization. A portion of that is afforded by providing Non-Pro/Comeback players with the opportunity to perform in an ensemble at each ITG conference. There is significant interaction and healthy communication when players work together toward a common performance goal.

An original piece is being composed by Dr. Robert Sears for the Non-Pro Players Trumpet Ensemble to perform at the 2025 ITG Conference in Salt Lake City. The ensemble will be directed by Dr. Seretta Hart.

Previous ITG Conference Non-Pro Players Ensembles:

2024 Anaheim, California – To kick off Anthony Plog's sessionPerpetual Progress: Nurturing the Lifelong Student in You, a well-versed [15 players of the] Non-Pro Trumpet Ensemble very impressively premiered the first [Prelude] movement of Brendan Collins's piece "Divertimento," [for 8 B flat trumpets, directed by Seretta Hart]. Taking advantage of the Conference hotel’s proximity to Disneyland, the Festival of Trumpets performed two identical concerts in the outdoor amphitheater at Downtown Disney. The various ensembles performed both on stage and in different locations throughout the open quad in a fast-paced collage format. To close out the Disney shows, Jim Olcott wrote a mass trumpet ensemble arrangement of “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which included all 84 ensemble members involved in the concert and featured solo parts performed by Jens Lindemann and Jonathan Bhatia. The concerts, very smoothly coordinated by Dr. Nairam Simoes from Arkansas State University, were well attended by an appreciative public audience and a steady flow of pedestrians passing by, who have probably never heard that many trumpets perform at the same time. 2023 Minneapolis, Minnesota – David Baldwin directed the Non-Pro Player Ensemble as 13 players performed the exciting premiere of “Old American Songs” for 10 B flat trumpets, composed by David Baldwin, in the Festival of Trumpets.
