Retirement of Andrew Wilson, US Air Force Band, Washington, DC

Andrew Wilson, former Principal and Solo Cornet of the United States Air Force Concert Band in Washington, DC since 1998, retired on May 1, 2011. He retired at the enlisted rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt).

His Air Force career began in 1991 with the Strategic Air Command Band at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. We was selected for membership in the Washington, DC band in 1994. Wilson completed numerous concert tours of the United States and traveled to Europe with the band. He was frequently featured as a soloist with the concert band and was a member of the brass quintet.

Wilson earned his bachelor's degree in music in 1991 from Ohio State University  where he studied with Richard Burkart and Tom Battenberg and his master's degree from Catholic University of America where he studied with Langston Fitzgerald.

He currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia with this wife Kate and daughters Emily and Clara.
