Cindy Scaruffi-Klispie to State College of Florida in Bradenton, Florida.

Cindy Scaruffi-Klispie, has been appointed to the faculty at the State College of Florida in Bradenton, Florida, which began in Fall 2023.

A native of Chicago, Cindy received a BM from Illinois State University and an MM from Northwestern University. She attended Interlochen Arts Camp (Principal-WYSO/Lead-Jazz Ensemble), was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (two years and one summer), twice a Tanglewood Fellow, and a member of the Disney World All-American College Band.

Cindy currently plays with the Sarasota Opera and has previously performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, Elgin Symphony, Illinois Symphony, and many other ensembles here in the United States. Her other previous successes include performing as Principal Trumpet of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Teatro di San Carlo, the Southwest Florida Symphony, the Sarasota Orchestra, Opera Naples, Gulfshore Opera, Orlando Philharmonic, Space Coast Symphony, and the Villages Philharmonic. She also has played with the Orchestra dell’Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Roma), the RAI (Radiotelevisione) Orchestras in Napoli and Torino, and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2 at the NorCal Music Festivals.

In addition, Cindy has played with The Monarch Brass and founded and plays in the Suncoast Brass Quintet. She envisioned and created the all-female trumpet ensemble, Trompettes Soniques, which debuted at the International Women’s Brass Conference in Denton, Texas, in 2022.

Cindy currently teaches at Florida Southwestern State College, alongside her new position as Adjunct Applied Trumpet Instructor at State College of Florida in Bradenton, Florida. Previously, she taught at Illinois Benedictine University and Florida Gulf Coast University. She has studied with Adolph Herseth, Vincent Cichowicz, William Scarlett, George Vosburgh, Bernard Adelstein, Tom Crown, Luther Didrickson, Arnold Jacobs, Herbert L. Koerselman, Charlie Schlueter, Roger Voisin, Susan Slaughter, Leon Rapier, and Giuseppe Bodanza. Cindy has also written an orchestral etude book, “Twenty Orchestral Studies,” and arranged Mozart’s “Alleluia” from Mozart’s Exultate, Jubilate for brass quintet.
