Maryna Pohlman Appointed ITG News Editor

The International Trumpet Guild (ITG) has appointed Maryna Pohlman as News Editor, effective August 15, 2023. Pohlman takes over for Jason Dovel, who served as ITG's News Editor from 2017–2023. Dovel stepped down to focus on his transition to the office of Vice President/President-Elect.

About Maryna Pohlman

Maryna Pohlman is a freelance trumpet player based out of Salt Lake City, UT. Her recent accomplishments include touring as principal trumpet with the Netflix and BBC Original series “Our Planet” Live in Concert USA Tour, touring as a founding member of the trumpet ensemble, Bel Tono, for their international tour with the 27 Festival de Música: BAC Credomatic in Costa Rica, and recording on the new video game soundtrack Honor of Kings.

Maryna received her bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance from Fort Lewis College, studying with Marc Reed. During her time at Fort Lewis College (FLC), she performed with Maria Schneider, Sean Jones, John Scofield, and Delfeayo Marsalis, the San Juan Symphony, and was a featured soloist with the FLC Wind Ensemble. She then received her master’s degree from the University of Utah (UU) studying with Peyden Shelton and Travis Peterson. During her time at the UU, she performed with the UU Graduate Brass Quintet, Trumpet Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and was a featured soloist with the UU Philharmonia and the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra. She also has performed with the Millennial Choir and Orchestra, Salt Lake Choral Artists, and the Westminster Chamber Orchestra as principal trumpet.

Maryna is the Social Media Coordinator and Exhibit Coordinator for the International Trumpet Guild. Beginning Fall 2023, she will be attending Indiana University Jacobs School of Music to receive her Doctor of Music in trumpet performance under the tutelage of Jason Bergman.
