Affiliate Chapters FAQ

WHY FORM A NEW ITG AFFILIATE CHAPTER?

Forming your own ITG Affiliate Chapter serves to further the purposes of ITG specifically in your area: "to promote communication among trumpet players around the world and to improve the artistic level of performance, teaching, and literature associated with the trumpet." Affiliate chapters can represent entire countries, states, regions, cities, or schools. Having an ITG affiliate chapter

  • adds credibility and visibility to your trumpet-related activities
  • creates opportunities for networking for advancement and employment
  • creates opportunities to share musical and pedagogical resources
  • brings like-minded people together for camaraderie.

WHAT DOES AN ITG AFFILIATE CHAPTER DO?

There is no limit to what your chapter can do, as long as you uphold the "principles and goals of the Guild." Affiliates may organize as they wish and set their own dues for use in funding local activities. Some have annual events, and some have their own newsletters and websites.  What can you imagine?

  • collaborate, socialize, share, perform with others in your area
  • bring in guest artists and teachers
  • commission new trumpet works
  • perform as an ensemble - at the ITG Conference
  • coordinate local and regional special trumpet events
  • create an instrument drive for those needing assistance
  • become a "sister" chapter to a chapter in another country to share music, culture, and ideas
  • sponsor a "sister" chapter from a developing country

*From the Bylaws: Each affiliate chapter shall be considered a separate organization from the Guild, with complete authority and control over its own activities. Each shall be considered an affiliate chapter as long as the principles and goals of the Guild are being pursued and upheld. No affiliate shall have the power to speak on behalf of the Guild or to contract any financial obligations on behalf of the Guild.

WHAT DOES ITG DO FOR ITS AFFILIATE CHAPTERS?

For the benefit of its chapters, ITG

  • gives credibility to affiliate chapters by lending use of its name
  • assists chapters by publicizing chapter activities through its website and Journal
  • offers performance opportunities at its annual conferences
  • offers grants to subsidize special chapter activities
