The International Trumpet Guild mourns the loss of trumpet legend Charles Geyer.
MOREOn Sunday, Dec. 9 2012, LA studio legend and soloist Malcolm McNab gave a well-attended two-hour master class at La Sierra University in Riverside, CA.
McNab came by special invitation from La Sierra University trumpet professor (adjunct) Giovanni Santos.
Malcolm McNab talked about his personal experiences in the studio and how he developed and maintained such a high level of musicianship on the trumpet. McNab was a former James Stamp student in Los Angeles and made a presentation on his warm-up routine (mouthpiece, bending notes, flexibility, and most importantly, efficiency). The attendees at this master class also had the opportunity to warm up along side McNab and ask him questions about his practice
Trumpet students from around Southern California performed for McNab, including students from USC, Cal State Fullerton, and Chapman University.
McNab has performed in well over two thousand film scores in his four-decade career. He has two solo recordings under his name, Exquisite and The Infinite Trumpet. The “Exquisite” line of trumpets offered by B&S, including a Bb, a C, and an Eb trumpet, were designed with consultation by McNab for his use.
