November 11, 2018 - Indiana University Brass Choir in concert at Auer Hall on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN (USA).  The brass choir is under the direction of Edmund CordThis concert of the Indiana University Brass Choir: ‘Salute to Veterans’. Our concert this Veterans Day is a special tribute to those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States, and our performance is given in their honor and in their memory.  The concert begins with The Star-Spangled Banner, in a very special arrangement made exclusively for the Indiana University Brass Choir by Grammy Award winner Victor Vanacore, followed by the first of three World War II fanfares by American composers. Next up is Vigil, written to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of VE day. Two IU premieres are included in the first half of our program, Conflict and Consolation, by Matthew Taylor, and Legacies of Honor, written by Dallas trumpeter and composer Bert Truax. Concluding the first half is Full Speed Ahead, a march featured in the 1954 film The Caine Mutiny.  The second half of the program includes the Lieutenant Kije Suite by Prokofiev, and concludes with The Gathering of the Armies, from Wagner’s opera Lohengrin.  This concert begins at 5:00 PM in Auer Hall on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN (USA).
