Angela King to Texas A&M University - Kingsville
Angela King has been appointed Adjunct Faculty of trumpet at Texas A&M University - Kingsville.
Angela is an active performer and educator and is also pursuing a Doctor of Music in Trumpet Performance and the Certificate in Arts Administration at Florida State University. Angela is the Educational Director for HERo, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) company aiming to connect and advocate for women in music. She holds the Master of Music degree from Ithaca College in Trumpet Performance and the Bachelors of Music Education from Troy University. Her teachers include Dr. Christopher Moore, Dr. Aaron Witek, Christopher Coletti, and Dr. Michael Huff.
Maintaining an active performance schedule, Angela has appeared throughout the United States and internationally, including performances with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Panama City Symphony Orchestra, the South Georgia Ballet Orchestra, and Orvieto Musica in Orvieto, Italy.
Angela is a member of the Capital City Brass Quintet, an ensemble that performs frequently nationally and internationally. The group recently completed their tour of Costa Rica in 2023 where they gave masterclasses to surrounding schools and universities as well as performing for the community in Costa Rica.
Angela has given recitals and masterclasses at universities around the United States, including Tarleton State University, Stetson University, and Troy University. She has adjudicated for the Tri-State Festival at Florida State University (FSU), the Middle School Honor Band at Troy University, and the High School Honor Band at Troy University. At Ithaca, Angela served as Music Advisor to the Cornell University Big Red Marching Band, with additional experience at high schools throughout the Southeastern United States. While a graduate student at Ithaca College she directed the IC trumpet ensemble - a group that had been selected as a semi-finalist at the National Trumpet Competition.
In addition to her performance and pedagogy, Angela is an active writer. Her publications have appeared in the International Trumpet Guild Journals, ITG news reports, and ITG conference reports.
