Garrett Klein to UNCG

Garrett Klein has been appointed assistant professor of trumpet at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Garrett Klein has performed across the United States and Asia as a soloist, chamber player, and orchestral musician. He is currently fulfilling an interim role as Lecturer of Trumpet at UNC Greensboro. Previously, he served on the faculties of St. Olaf College and Gustavus Adolphus College. 

Garrett tours the United States as a member of the Dallas Brass. Additionally, he holds a position as solo cornet with the North Carolina Brass Band and tours with the Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass. As a guest orchestral musician, he has performed with the Charlotte Symphony, Winston-Salem Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. As an advocate of new music, Garrett has worked with composers to commission new music for trumpet. He has performed on New Works recitals at ITG conferences in Columbus, OH and San Antonio, TX.

Garrett holds MM and DMA degrees from Arizona State University and a BM degree from St. Olaf College. Garrett also attended the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore.

His primary teachers have been David Hickman and Martin Hodel. Dr. Klein is an endorsing artist for Conn-Selmer and proudly performs on Vincent Bach trumpets.
