In Memoriam: Steve Madaio (1948–2019)

ITG has learned of the passing of trumpeter Steve Madaio (1948–2019).

Madaio was perhaps best known as the trumpet player for Stevie Wonder.  In addition, he performed and recorded with many other leading artists including John Lennon (Walls and Bridges), Bob Dylan (Street Legal), Earth, Wind & Fire, B. B. King, Gregg Allman (Playin’ Up a Storm), Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart (Blondes Have More Fun), Don Henley (New York Minute), the Marshall Tucker Band, Ringo Starr (Goodnight Vienna), Lowell George, Bonnie Raitt and more.

He was also respected as a teacher, and videos of his teaching can be found on Youtube.

Madaio was born July 18, 1948 and passed away on January 15, 2019.
