Otto Sauter visits University of Missouri

World-renowned piccolo trumpet soloist and teacher Otto Sauter held a mini-residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, at the beginning of October.

Sauter began his residency with a recital that featured his piccolo trumpet playing on Claude Rippas’ arrangement of Telemann’s Recorder Sonata, TWV 41:C2 and the second movement of Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in D Minor. For the performances of Sinfonia à due Trombe in D Major by Anonymous and for the Finale of Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 Trumpets, Sauter was joined by MU trumpet professor Dr. Iskander Akhmadullin, who also performed works by Turrin, Conway Baker, and Piazzolla. Dr. Natalia Bolshakova provided piano accompaniment for the recital.

This visit was made possible by the World Brass and European Brass Associations, MU School of Music, Zeta Chapter Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and MU ITG Chapter.
