Dennis Ferry's l’Histoire du Soldat in Switzerland

Dennis Ferry, former Principal Trumpet of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva (1977-2008), recently played cornet à pistons in the 100th anniversary of the premiere of Stravinsky's l’Histoire du Soldat. The performance took place in Geneva, Switzerland on September 28, 2018, exactly 100 years after the premiere, which was given at the Theatre Municipal in Lausanne.

In December of 2017, Dennis played l’Histoire du Soldat at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. on their main concert series. Since returning to the US in 2009, Dennis has been active in the Washington, D.C. area performing on both modern trumpet and baroque/natural trumpet at the Kennedy Center and elsewhere in the area. Dennis is also very active with his trumpet ensemble, arranging and recording such pieces as Ligeti’s Six Bagatelles, Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, five movements of l’Histoire du Soldat, among others.
