May 12, 2018 - The Bonnie and Lee Malmed Young Artist Competition, sponsored by the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra.  In its 39th year, the Young Artist Competition seeks to encourage and promote talented young musicians by offering cash awards and the opportunity to perform with the critically acclaimed SVSO. Past winners include international soloists Jennifer Koh and Wendy Warner, as well as members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Silk Road Ensemble, and Pacifica String Quartet.  The Competition, to be held in Chicago on May 12 at Northeastern Illinois University, is open to amateur performers on all orchestral instruments (including piano, saxophone, and guitar) ages 16 - 22.  I hope you will share the attached flyer with your students and encourage them to participate.  Additional information, rules, and registration may be found at our website:  http://svso.org.
