Peter Voisin to East Tennessee State University

East Tennessee State University is excited to announce the addition of Peter Voisin to the trumpet faculty as instructor of trumpet.

Voisin joins Bach Artist / Clinician Dr. David Champouillon, Professor of Trumpet and Director of Jazz Studies at ETSU. Voisin and Champouillon have a relationship of over 38 years going back to Champouillon having studied trumpet repertory and brass ensemble with Voisin (Syracuse Symphony Orchestra) at Onondaga Community College (SUNY) in Syracuse, NY. Peter Voisin is a 4th generation musician (trumpet) who has played in orchestras all his life. He attended the Aspen Music School, Oberlin Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory of Music. He has performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops, played extra with the Boston Symphony and has played with the Syracuse, Jacksonville, Brevard, and Hendersonville Symphonies since 1971. He is the staff composer with the Hendersonville Youth Symphony, and has been director of the Premier Brass (his own chamber brass group) since 1991.  He is actively composing and arranging chamber works and is married to a musician trumpet player, Pamela Voisin, both of whom play in the Smoky Mountain Brass Band. Peter is also a member of the American Legion (Sons of America Legion) where he serves on their Honor Guard playing Taps for Military Funerals and Holidays. The legacy of the Voisin trumpet family (René, Roger, and now Peter) continues in the 21st century.
