IUP TrumpetFest 2018

The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) TrumpetFest was held on February 16 and 17, 2018, and featured performances by IUP trumpet students and faculty and guest artist Judith Saxton.

The programs presented during the weekend included Akane Hanson's junior trumpet recital, Kevin Eisensmith's faculty trumpet recital, a clinic by Judith Saxton, a studio recital, a recital of David Saylor and Alex Edwards (clarinet), and a recital by Judith Saxton.

All events were held in Gorell Recital Hall in the John Sutton Building on the IUP campus, and were free and open to the general public.

Dr. Kevin Eisensmith, trumpet professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, presented a recital of music for trumpet on Friday evening, February 16 at 8:00 pm. Assisting was Dr. Sun Min Kim, Assistant Professor of Piano in the Department of Music. Eisensmith performed works by Torelli, Kevin McKee, Robert Bradshaw, and others.

Students participate in Judith Saxton's clinic

Ms. Judith Saxton presented a clinic on Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 and a recital that evening at 8:00 p.m. Her clinic was titled, "Performance Anxiety to Performance Excitement: Alexander Technique and Better Brass Playing" and was well received by IUP students.

Her recital, "Sonic Soundings of Songs and Poetry," included Spring Songs, Op. 676 by Carson Cooman, Hollow Men by Vincent Persichetti, Jan Koetsier’s Concertino, Op. 84, Serenade by Brendan Collins, and Anthony Plog’s Animal Ditties, featuring Kevin Eisensmith as narrator. Ms. Saxton was accompanied by Dr. Henry Wong Doe, Professor of Piano at IUP.
