In Memorium: Joseph F. Cataldo Sr. (1941–2017)

Joseph F. Cataldo, Sr., of Marlton, NJ, passed away on January 3, 2017, at the age of 75. Joseph was a professional trumpeter, composer, and clinician.

Cataldo performed with many jazz and commercial artists in concert, on tour, and on sound tracks. Included in the long list of people he worked with are Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., the Temptations, the Four Tops, and Johnny Mathis. He can be heard on HBO’s The Sopranos, playing on shows featuring the Rat Pack, Johnny Carson and Regis Philbin, and so many others. In addition to his performing, Cataldo was active as a composer, clinician, and music educator. He was a featured clinician and soloist for many jazz festivals. He recently was added to the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame on the Avenue of The Arts in Philadelphia. 

He is survived by his wife Marie (nee Orlando) for 54 years, his children Vincent (Chase) and Joseph, Jr. (Lisa), grandchildren Nicholas, Natalie, Trey, and Taylor, sister Jenny Lee DiBona, and nephews and nieces and family and friends.
